Kalakaleshwar - A Temple which repaints itself !

The Kalakeshwara temple is situated at Gajendragarh (in Koppal Dist, Karnataka) and the principal deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva worshipped  in the Kalakeshwara form.

This cave temple is located a few kilometers away from Gajendragarh town and
has a story to tell:

Every year, a miracle happens during Ugadi – a day that marks the New Year. According to legend a day before the New Year, the pujari of the Kalakeshwara temple makes a limestone mixture. A brush is placed close to this mixture within the temple. It is said that the next morning when the pujari opens the temple premises, it would be painted anew. This is said to happen every year.

IMHO,if it attracts the faithfuls with that story. it's a good thing.

The temple itself is worth a visit for it's spectacular location and the surrounding scenery.
