The Way to God is through water - Narasimha Jharna Temple

This Temple near Bidar is unique in the sense that one needs to wade through waist high water to reach the deity.

One drives out of Bidar town for about 2 Kms or so to reach a trough in the terrain - then climb down a few dozen steps past stalls selling Puja items to the Temple entrance.

I had a competitor it seemed..

The day I went, there was a heavy rush of pilgrims and chaos prevailed.

The story goes like this:

The temple came into existence when Vishnu killed Hiranyakashyap and also slew another giant named Jharasura. While breathing his last, Jharasura requested Vishnu to reside in the cave in which he was living and to grant boons to devotees. Granting last wish of his, Lord Narasimha came to live in the cave and hence the name.

One has to wade through water up to chest height for about 300 meters to have darshan of Lord Narasimha Swamy. There is a roughly carved image of Narasimha on a stone wall at the end of the cave.

A perennial stream of water is said to be flowing continuously for hundreds of years in this place.

Hotline to God?

It is believed that the shrine at Narasimha Jhira Cave Temple is a 'Swayambu (self-manifested) roopam' and very powerful.

The long Queue put me off. So I didn't get to wade through to God.

Others were more eager than me to have a darshan -  and they waved me off for being such an impatient bloke.
